Neuen: A Sci-Fi Mystery by Sheri Singerling

How Does Our Environment Shape Us? A Fictional World of Extremes—Physically, Societally, and Genetically

Levi is a scientist in a tightly controlled society. It’s one where the use of technology is restricted, and even reproduction is monitored. His people are nomadic, forced to wander their planet’s terminus to avoid the extremes of days and nights that span centuries. It’s their collective punishment for their ancestors’ genetic tampering. Exile until their genomes have been purified.

But Levi wants more for his people, and himself. When everyone in a neighboring settlement mysteriously dies, Levi gets the chance to make use of his knowledge and expertise. But his efforts are frustrated by those in control, those pulling the strings. Levi is determined to save his people and free them from their age-old shackles, no matter the cost.

Neuen touches on the inequalities inherent to life as well as the complex effects knowledge and technology have on humanity. For fans of genetic engineering, botany, and dystopia.
